2013 Ride

I have decided not to bore people with a schedule of training rides for this year's ride. I did it last year for my own purposes and don't feel the need to do it this year. If anybody really wants to know these details then all I can say is that they need help.


2012 Ride

Originally I devised a schedule based on riding on alternate days and gradually increasing distance. At some point it was then intended to ride on two consecutive days, moving up to three consecutive days etc. The main reason for the schedule was to ensure I could ride 50 miles a day for three consecutive days before the proposed departure date, 10th April. It was not meant to be adhered to rigidly and I have already departed from it. Below is the original schedule for November with the actual distances and speeds also shown. subject to the next two week's achievements.

I found I couldn't update the above table so I've done December's schedule longhand. That's why it's a bit wobbly. 

I did manage a 30 miler before the end of November so the plan now is to increase distance more gradually now with a back to back once a week and a couple of 40s by the end of the month. Let's see.

I have found it difficult to add an updated schedule since the above was added but have managed to increase distance without too much pain and agony. I had a bad spell at the end of January with weather and a bit of illness but I am back into it now and will continue to be so hopefully over February and March with generally longer rides and  weekend back to backs as described above. The schedule has served it's purpose by assuring me I could increase to the required distances at the required gradual rate.
